2009-2010 Associated Student Council

Michael Watson, ASC President
Email me! ASCPres@scc.spokane.edu

My name is Michael Watson. I was elected Associated Student Council President with the most votes in school history. I am attending SCC to become a radiology technician. I have been President of NASO (Native American Student Organization) for the past three years. I am currently NASO President and the founder and President of the award winning Comic Book Club SASQUAD, and I was the Student Activities Council Chairperson the 2008-2009 academic year. I was voted Student of the Year by the students and was Work-Study of the Year for 2007-2008. I am a member of Stop the Hate and the MOSAIC Mentors. I was the master of ceremonies of the Homeless Fair and I headed the Celebration of Cultures Conference for 2007-2008. I was one of the managers during last year's communications conference and a leader the year prior. I also held the position Programmer of Multicultural Events. As if this isn't enough, I also find time for family, friends, and comics, as well as my full-time studies. My hobbies are service learning, human rights, and comic books.

I vow to work 100% for the students in everything I do throughout the year. I have an open door policy and will help students with any reasonable thing in my power. My office is located in the upstairs of the Lair, Building 6, Room 0207, phone 533-8153, or you can find me at specific times at "Open Mike" right outside of the Lair Cafeteria.

Tami Windhorst, ASC Vice President
Email me! ASCVP@scc.spokane.edu

Hello Spokane Community College! I'm very excited and honored to be your 2009-2010 Student Body Vice President! This is my second year serving in student government and I really enjoy being the voice of my fellow students and helping to make our campus a better one. I love helping and being available to you for any questions, concerns, or to just listen! This is my third and I'm sad to say my final year here at SCC. I plan on transferring to Gonzaga University, where I will be working toward my bachelor's degree in leadership and communications. I'm also serving as PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) President this year and plan to aid and assist my fellow members in receiving scholarships to four-year universities. In my spare time, I'm the proud mother of three children: Alisha, Zachary, and Cameron. Returning to school, particularly SCC, has truly changed my life and the memories, lessons, friendships, and experiences are truly treasured!

Please stop by and say hello or give me a call anytime!

Brenda Crosby, SAC Chair

Hello, my name is Brenda Lee Crosby. I am the Student Activities Chairperson for 2009-2010 academic year. I am currently a criminal justice student, with an interest in communications. I am a member of the Fit Club. As a single parent and a full-time student, my goal is to be a voice for the many challenges that we as students face as we pursue a higher education.

Thank you for the privilege of serving you this year as a member of your student government.

Email me! ESvcSCC@scc.spokane.edu

Hello, my name is Lindsay Murphy. I am the Director of Emergency Services for Spokane Community College. I was selected for this position after serving as a food bank attendant work-study in the 2008-2009 school year. I have many ideas for improvements in helping students find the services they need to make their time here easier and more enjoyable. I am in charge of running community events such as the Tree of Sharing and Thanksgiving basket donations. I work closely with local charities to bring accessible and friendly services to our student population. I'm looking forward to another great year and helping as many fellow students as I can.

Krishen Talarico, Director of Legislative Issues
Email me! ASCLegislation@scc.spokane.edu

Hello students! My name is Krishen Talarico. I'm the Director of Legislative Issues for the SCC Associated Student Government. I am currently attending my second year at SCC, and I completely love this school and all the people who attend. This is also my second year on the student government. I will be your voice this year for legislative issues that affect you and the campus. I believe highly in our right to vote, and I will be on campus this year signing students up for voter registration. I also participate in SASQUAD, SCC's comic book club, as their secretary. I love reading comics and enjoy the friends I have made by being part of the club. I came to SCC to receive my degree to become a pharmacy technician. It wasn't my first choice but I ultimately came to the conclusion that it is what I truly want to do. Outside of school, I love to sing, watch movies, and listen to music. Remember, we are the future of America and our voice is our power!

Jorge Guerrero, Director of Administrative Services
Email me! ASGadmin@scc.spokane.edu

Hola Amigos! My name is Jorge Guerrero. I am the Director of Administrative Services for the SCC Associated Student Government. I'm currently in my third quarter at SCC and completely love being back in school. I'm an older student; I took a nine-year break after high school. I joined the military and proudly and honorably served for eight and a half years, I loved it, but I decided it was time to get back to school. I'm currently in the Criminal Justice program and doing prerequisites for the Aviation program. This is my first quarter on student government. I'm also a proud member of the Rho Beta Psi, LASO, and the Veterans clubs. I love being part of this school, and I want others to be able to enjoy the same. Outside of school, I love to go clubbing; I'm not a big dancer, but I like the vibe and atmosphere. I also enjoy watching movies and listen to all types of music.

Jason Fierst, Senator of Athletics, LRC, Student Services
Email me! SAthletics@scc.spokane.edu

My name is Jason Fierst and I am your Senator for Athletics, Learning Resources, and Student Services for the 2009-2010 academic school year. I am in my second year at SCC and pursuing my degree in architecture. I intend to ensure the gap is closed between your student government and you, the student, whether you are in my division, a member of one of my clubs, or an SCC student looking for assistance or advice. In my off time, I enjoy raising my two beautiful daughters and enjoying the wonderful Spokane weather.

On campus, I proudly started the first SCC chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) last year. I also serve as the Vice President for ADDSA and am a contributing member of Student Association for Nature and Environment (SANE). I co-sponsored, legislatively pursued, and eventually struck down both a Washington State House Bill and a Senate Bill that would have affected the future of all current SCC Architecture students and community college architecture students across the state.

I am a very approachable person and if I don't have the answer you can rest assured I will get it for you. So whether you want to start a new club, get involved with student government, find the right club to fit into, or just need to know where to get the closest energy drink at 7 a.m., my door is always open! I look forward to meeting you.

Charlotte Cochran-Anderson, Senator of Business, Hospitality, Information Technology
Email me! SBusiness@scc.spokane.edu

While here, I have had the privilege of belonging to Delta Epsilon Chi and serving as their Vice President of Activities and as their President. I am excited this year to learn about other clubs. As your Senator, I'm looking forward to representing the Business, Hospitality and Information Technologies Division. I would like to extend an open invitation for everyone to come up to the student government offices during my office hours to chat, share concerns, or just say hello. It is going to be an exciting year!

Mike Morris, Senator of Health and Environmental Sciences

Kendu Humphreys, SAC Programmer of Multicultural Events
Email me! SACMulticultural@scc.spokane.edu

My name is Kendu Humphreys and I'm currently the SAC Programmer of Multicultural Events. I am also the Vice President of the Black Student Union. This is my seventh quarter at SCC, and I've resided within the Spokane area since February of 2007. I originated from Harlem/Bronx, N.Y., but the regions of my life's experience are: Hackensack, NJ; Brunswick, GA; and Jacksonville, FL (I have spent a significant amount of time in each of these areas). At the youthful age of 35, I decided to go back to school. The direction of furthering my education is in business and communication. I plan to receive my AA degree here at SCC and transfer to an environment that will progress my knowledge in my respected fields and ensure others in my generation a position in that field also (if that is their wish). I have established 'CORP. DESIGN' (this is a global community development project), A.C.T. (the Atlantic Coalition Transition - designed to inform all communities of changing policies on a political-social-and environmental level), and Once ONE (a challenge to the soul of the true meaning of community and its relationship with us as the people of the earth). "The main point is to explain we can't survive without one another." This is to shack-up the soul in all of us to realize what's really important (our existence today and tomorrow). I have hopes to mold CORP. DESIGN upon three continents (eastern Europe, middle Africa, and North America). I have constructed a 25-year plan, with six-month progress points. My overall goal is to live within a community that is safe from itself and outside destructive forces.

Alison Pau, Associated Student Council (ASC) and Student Activities Council (SAC) Advisor
Email me! APau@scc.spokane.edu

I started working for Spokane Community College in August of 2007. I am excited about working with students, especially as they seek ways to contribute back to their college. I have been working in higher education for over four years. I have worked in areas such as residence life, community service, student activities, judicial affairs, assessment, and training. I am originally from Minnesota, where I completed my undergraduate career by obtaining a BA in Mathematics from Gustavus Adolphus College. Two years after graduating, I moved to Los Angeles, CA, where I obtained my M.Ed. in College Student Affairs at Azusa Pacific University. I really enjoy movies, traveling, going out to eat, crafts, and learning how to do anything new.
