College Placement Test
Information
Preparation: The key to successful exams!
It is generally accepted that students should prepare for class exams as well as major exams like the SAT. But preparation for placement exams is equally important!
Situation: You're taking a class. Due to unavoidable circumstances, you miss three weeks of class. During that time, you do not open a related book or practice any relevant problems. The day you come back to class, a comprehensive exam with material from the previous two months of class is given. Do you feel prepared? Are you likely to be successful?
So, take the above situation and replace three weeks with one year [or two years or more]. How likely do you think you are to pass the exam? Well, this is basically the situation as you head into a placement exam!
Thus, you need a plan. A plan to be successful!
1. Plan ahead.
Know when you are taking the exam.
2. Prepare.
Find out about the exam.
Talk to someone who has taken it.
Find practice exams.
For a week or two leading up to the exam, work some related math problems every day!
If you prepare yourself for your placement exam, you will improve your chances of placing into college level math courses!
