Culinary Culture
What is it?
Culinary Culture was a unified series of events examining the power and impact food has on civilization. Because of food's universal appeal, the topic invited participation not just by faculty, staff and students, but also the community as well.
Goals
Culinary Culture was a fall quarter 2004 series of events created to bring together the campus community around the idea of food. The series explored the connections between food and culture by:
- celebrating the integral role of food in culture, art and society
- raising awareness of the health, environmental, social and ethical issues surrounding food production, technology and consumption
- recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of knowledge by examining food through a variety of perspectives
- promoting the Inland Northwest's regional identity as a center for culinary innovation
